Renowned French painter Edgar Degas suffered of progressive light sensitivity and blurred central vision in both eyes, which affected his life and art in many ways. A first cousin from his mother's side, Estelle Musson of New Orleans also lost vision in a similar fashion at a comparable age. We postulated that Edgar and Estelle shared the same retinal pathology that possibly developed in a hereditary fashion, and we were interested whether any of their living family descendants might carry ABCA4 mutations to test the possibility that Edgar Degas may have had Stargardt disease.Edgar was never married and had no children, but Estelle had five children, four of whom from her marriage to Edgar's younger brother, and there are several descendants still living in New Orleans area. Genetic testing on five of Estelle's great grandchildren (Edgar's great grandnieces) were performed searching for ABCA4 mutations.We could not document any disease-causing variations in the ABCA4 gene in any of the descendants and therefore concluded that Edgar Degas most likely did not have Stargardt disease. Estelle and Edgar may have shared a different hereditary disease or have had two different retinal dystrophies or had another eye disease, including the unlikely possibility of inflammatory disease.<br />The aim of the present study is to report the perioperative and long-term surgical outcomes of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) with venous tumour thrombus (VTT).<br />Data of 34 patients (males = 23, females = 11) from 2009 to 2020 who underwent radical nephrectomy with thrombectomy for RCC and VTT was retrospectively analysed. As a primary form of care, self-care is under patients' control and the patient's belief plays an important role in self-care behaviors. It studied 100 hypertensive patients in four health centers in rural areas in Toyserkan city in 2019. The samples were simple random sampling among those people referred to the four health centers. Participants in the intervention group attended three training sessions, but the control group did not take part in any training program. The assessment was conducted in both groups before and after the intervention through personal interviews with patients. The questionnaire including the Health Belief Model and self-care behavior cone effective in achieving better performance and attitude of patients suffering from hypertension and their self-care. Some long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are regarded as potential prognostic biomarkers or targets for treatment of many types of cancers. We aim to screen prognostic-related lncRNAs and build a possible lncRNA signature which can effectively predict the survival of patients with EC. We obtained lncRNA expression profiling from the TCGA database. The patients were classified into training set and verification set. By performing Univariate Cox regression model, Robust likelihood-based survival analysis, and Cox proportional hazards model, we developed a risk score with the Cox co-efﬁcient of individual lncRNAs in the training set. The optimum cut-off point was selected by ROC analysis. Patients were effectively divided into high-risk group and low-risk group according to the risk score. The OS of the low-risk patients was significantly prolonged compared with that of the high-risk group. At last, we validated this 11-lncRNA signature in the verification set and the complete set.
