World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses like PvE damage and crit chance.
For instance a weapon that has the upgrade template that ends in % will gain an attack damage of 3% each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item's level increases.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons, and trinkets to give an additional stat boost or effect while they're in use. These can be obtained by making crafts, buying from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level to allow a component to be applied. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used one time; they can't be used multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or Ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade could include a suffix or prefix that alters the name of the equipment with the upgrade (for instancethe "Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions of the item using fewer Upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level with normal methods.
A boost upgrade can modify the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades are available for purchase them in the cash shop or by obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other gear.
Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of the item will be revealed in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue improving their equipment even if they're not sure of the extent to which it will improve after a future reset.
The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process can be expensive, and there is a substantial possibility that the item will be obsolete or even break if it fails; a failed upgrade will cause the destruction of Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items that can double or even eliminate the possibility of failure, and some upgrades that offer a bonus when reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets that are specifically designed for. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, and include any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We suggest upgrading them as soon as possible up to 15 levels.
It is commonplace to see in the endgame that putting Glyphs is the most effective method to upgrade your gear. These are the only upgrade components which can be upgraded to level 15 and give an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without restriction. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can choose to replace it with another Glyph with the same rank or a higher rank, which will boost the value of the Glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use and also through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the numerous Glyphs, and there are some rare Glyphs that can be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have the desired Glyphs then you need to place them on your equipment. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that will boost a particular set of stat nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.
Glyphs will boost all nodes that are connected to them, therefore it is best to place Glyphs in strategic spots on the Graph. This will increase the impact. Druids for instance should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might be able to place them near their most critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The upgrade system for items allows players to increase the stats of certain items by placing upgraded components inside them. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned an amount that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be upgraded to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires a different number of components, and the upgrade costs increase as the item gets advanced in level.
Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab of crafting tables. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to level up the item. Once enough points have been earned, the upgrade will be claimed and any additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When an individual player upgrade the equipment they have the original item will be replaced by a new item. The same armor can be transformed into an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also comes with its own set bonus. This could be a problem, as it can make the item more expensive if you do not need it.
Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, if the player has enough reroll tokens in order to do so. The item will be replaced with the same item, but it has a level 1 basis and totally different bonuses. This is useful for certain items, however it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it can waste many resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled several times to increase their value, giving players the ability to alter their gear. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or is able to swim like dolphins). The item can be upgraded multiple times by increasing the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item is extremely valuable in PvP, as an item that is properly rolled it can be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.
Requirements
The item upgrader allows players to increase the level of their equippable equipment (armor weapons, weapons trinkets, and weapons) beyond ilvl385 by handing over the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also improve the strength of their base defense and upgrades to weapon items increase the damage they deal as well as their strength and dexterity.
Each item can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear which can be upgraded up to eight times. Every each time you upgrade an item, it is given an opportunity to fail. The rate of failure increases as you exceed the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures can cause the item to go back to its original condition, which requires the user to pay more for materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.
If an item does not upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it has gained like chances to be crit attack damage, additional effects (such as an increase in healing over time or reloading speed). However, the player may still continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.
When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon increases its crit chance it will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the item's definition and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is applied.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item are based on its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to its value. For instance an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost. 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will have an incredibly lower cost for each additional upgrade.
Premium items have different upgrade requirements as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they might require fewer sowels, but more minerals and erons. Regardless, the player will have to visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade cost mentioned above, each upgrade requires an individual amount of ingredients for upgrading.
