World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses such as PvE damage and crit chance.
For instance an item with the upgrade template that is ending in % will gain an attack damage of 3% each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the current level of the item. The cost increases with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons, and trinkets to give an extra stat boost or effect while they're in use. These can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can only be used on devices that have slots. The item must be at least upgraded to blue before a component can be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or Ascended equipment, as well other items that are not ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade can be prefixed or a suffix changing the name of the equipment with the upgrade (for instance "Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions using fewer upgrade crystals than they need to reach the same level using normal methods.
A boost upgrade can modify the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by purchasing them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.
The player can get a maximum of five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-tier version of the item will be available during the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their gear even when they're not sure what can be improved upon the reset.
The process of upgrading an item could be expensive and it is likely that the item will become obsolete or even break if the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the possibility of failure. Certain upgrades also provide an additional bonus when they are reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade elements which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of all nodes within the area around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in many ways, and we suggest getting them up to level 15 as soon as you can.
In the endgame, you will often find that the best way to enhance your gear is by placing Glyphs. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded directly to level 15, and they provide an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes much faster.
The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restriction. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced with the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
Each Glyph has a certain range of values it can improve a stat by. The value is shown when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.
Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs then you have to put them on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus that will boost a specific set of stat nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Based on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Using Glyphs Glyph will boost all nodes that are connected to it, and you should aim to place your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximise the impact. For example an Druid should try to position their Glyphs near their primary damage points, but also consider placing them near critical damage nodes too.
Leveling
The upgrade system for items lets players increase the effectiveness of specific items by putting upgraded components in them. This is also known as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each level of an item requires a different number of components to be reached, and the upgrade costs increase as the item gets advanced in level.
Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab of a crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields several Technology Points. These points can be used to level the item. Once enough are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When a player upgrade an item the original item is replaced by a new item. The same armor can be transformed into an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also has its own set bonus. This could be a problem because it can cause the item to become more expensive if you do not need it.
Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens to do so. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it is based on a level 1 base and completely different bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, but it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it can waste lots of resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled many times to increase their value, giving players the ability to alter their equipment. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or does not swim as dolphins). This item can be upgraded many times, increasing the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item is extremely important in PvP. A well-rolled version could be worth as much as 50x the value of the non-upgraded version.
Requirements
The upgrader for items allows players to increase the level of their equipment (armor weapons, weapons trinkets, and armor) above ilvl385 by presenting the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also boost the defense of the base set and weapon upgrades items increase their base damage and also increase their strength and dexterity.
item upgrading can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear which can have eight upgrades. Each time you upgrade a piece of equipment, it is at risk of failing. The rate of failure increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures can result in the item reverting to its original condition, which requires the player to pay for more items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.
If an item is not upgraded, the experience bar in its growth bar will reset to zero. Additionally the item will be deducted any bonuses it gained, including crit chance and attack damage, as well as all additional effects associated with that effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or speed of reload). The player will be able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.
If an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded receives a crit chance boost it will be applied before any damage from attacks increases. Slots is a brand new attribute that has been added to item definitions. The value is recalculated each time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is dependent on its rarity score and the number of upgrade slots. The upgrade cost for non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for example, a common equipment item could have five upgrades with a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will come with the lowest cost for each upgrade.
Premium items have different requirements for upgrading than standard gear--for instance, they may require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons. Whatever the case, players will have to visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each equipment upgrade will require the use of different ingredients for upgrading.
