World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also boost extra bonuses such as PvE damage and crit chance.
If the weapon's upgrade template is in %, the weapon will increase an additional 3% of the previous damage for every time it's upgraded.
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost rises with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons and trinkets to provide an additional stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot to accommodate them; the item must be at the very least upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and Enrichments are a type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and Ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade may be prefixed or a suffix, modifying the name of the item to which it is applied (for example "Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, which allows players to create stronger versions of that equipment that require the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than would be required to achieve the same upgrade level through normal methods.
A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defence attributes of an armored weapon or. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be purchased by purchasing them from the cash shop, or by obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other gear.
The player can have the maximum of five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-level version of the item will appear at the time of the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their gear, even when they're not sure what can be improved upon an update.
The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process can be costly, and there is a substantial risk that the item may be obsolete or even break when it fails. A failure to upgrade can destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the risk of failure. Some upgrades also offer a bonus if they are reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade components that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, and include any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded many ways, and we suggest getting them up to level 15 as soon as possible.
In the endgame you'll find that the most effective way to upgrade your gear is to place Glyphs. These are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded to level 15 and provide significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without any restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph with the same rank or a higher rank, which will boost the overall value of the Glyph.
You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools, and through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs that you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you will need them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that can boost the stats of a particular set of nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats depending on the Glyph.
Glyphs boost all nodes that are connected to them, therefore it is best to place Glyphs in key locations on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. Druids, for example should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also consider placing them near their primary damage nodes.
Leveling
The upgrade system for items allows players to boost the stats of specific items by inserting upgraded components. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with a level that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each item level requires different components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.
Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained from completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab in the crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields a number of Technology Points. These points can be used for leveling up an item. Once enough points are earned you will be able to claim your upgrade and get its extra bonuses.
When an individual player upgrades the equipment they have the original item is replaced by an item that is new. The same armor will be upgraded to a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item will have a unique bonus. This could be a problem because it can cause the item to become more expensive, even if you don't need it.
If the player has enough tokens they can roll the upgrade of their item. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This can be beneficial however it shouldn't be done often as it could waste resources.
Some upgrades can be rerolled several times, increasing their value and allows the player to modify their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides a buff if the player repeatedly enters or leaves the water. It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time raising the maximum roll by 10 points. This item can be very valuable in PvP as the best version of it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.
Requirements
The upgrade of items allows players to boost the level of their available equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by offering the appropriate items and currency to an NPC that upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase its base defense and weapon upgrades items boost their base damage as well as their strength and dexterity.
All items can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Each each time you upgrade an item it has a chance to fail--the rate of failure increases as you exceed the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures can cause the item to return to its original condition, which requires the player to pay for more resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.
If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar in the bar for growth will be reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it has gained, such as crit chance attack damage, additional effects (such as a higher healing rate over time, or reloading speed). However, the player may continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.
When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that should a weapon gain an increase in crit chance, the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is calculated every time an upgrade is applied.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. item upgrades of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to its base value. For example an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades for a price of. 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will come with a much lower cost for each additional upgrade.
Premium items have different requirements for upgrading as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they might require fewer sowels, but they will require more minerals and erons. Regardless, the player will need to visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. Each upgrade of equipment requires different amounts of upgrade ingredients in addition to the cost listed above.
