World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also increase bonuses such as damage from PvE and crit chance.
If the template for upgrading a weapon is in %, the weapon will increase an additional 3% of the previous attack damage every time it is upgraded.
The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the item's current level. The cost rises with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons and armor to give them a boost in stats or an extra effect. These can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot for them. The item must have been at a minimum upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and Enrichments are a type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or Ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade could be prefixed or a suffix, modifying the name of the equipment with which it is applied (for instance "Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions of the item using fewer upgrade crystals than they require to reach the same level using standard methods.
A 'boost upgrade' can modify the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades can be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. These upgrades can be purchased by purchasing them in the cash shop or by getting them from enemies while upgrading other gear.
Each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of an item will be revealed in the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their gear, even when they're not sure what will be improved following a reset.
Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be costly and there is a significant risk that the item may be obsolete or even break when it fails. A failed upgrade will ruin the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items that can increase or even eliminate the chances of failure, and some upgrades that offer an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs can boost the performance of nodes within a radius, which includes any pre-existing attaches. Glyphs are upgraded in a variety of ways, and we recommend upgrading them to 15 levels as soon as you can.
In the final game, you will often find that the most effective way to upgrade your gear is by placing Glyphs. These are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded to level 15 and provide an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without any restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.
Each Glyph has a specific range of values that it can improve a stat by, and the value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can decide to replace it with another Glyph of the same rank or a higher rank, which will boost the value of the Glyph.
You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools and also through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have the desired Glyphs then you need to place them on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus which will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats depending on the Glyph.
Utilizing the Glyph will boost all the nodes that are connected to it, and it is recommended to position your Glyphs near the most important nodes of the Graph to maximize the impact. For instance an Druid should try to position their Glyphs near their primary damage nodes, but you should also think about placing them near crucial damage nodes, too.
Leveling
The system of upgrading items allows players to improve the performance of specific items by putting upgraded components in them. This is also known as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with a level, which determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum of 385 ilvl. Each level of an item requires different components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.
Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab in the crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used for leveling up an item. Once enough points are earned, you will be eligible to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.
When the player upgrade the equipment they have the original item will be replaced by an item that is new. The same armor can be transformed into an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also comes with its own bonus. This could be a drawback in that it could cause the item to become more expensive if you don't require it.
Upgrades to items can be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens to do this. The item will be replaced with the same item, but it has a base of level 1 and completely different bonuses. This is useful for certain items, but it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it could waste a lot of resources.
Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to modify their equipment. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player repeatedly enters and exits water (or does not swim as dolphins). The item can be upgraded several times and increases the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item can be extremely valuable in PvP as the best version of it could be worth between 20 and 50x its value if it is not upgraded.
Requirements
Item upgrading allows players to upgrade the quality of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by presenting the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrade r NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also boost the defense of the base set and weapon upgrades items increase their base damage and also increase their strength and dexterity.
Each item can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Every when you upgrade an item, it is given a chance to fail--the failure rate increases the more you exceed the maximum number of upgrades. Failures can result in the item reverting to its original condition, which requires the user to spend more money on materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum number of upgrades.
If an item is not upgraded the experience bar on its growth bar will be reset to zero. In addition the item will be deducted any gained bonuses such as crit chance, attack damage, as well as any additional effects associated with that effect (for instance, a higher healing over time or reload speed). However, the player can continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.
If an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon gains an increase in its crit chance the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the definition of the item and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item are determined by its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to the value of the base item. For example an item of common use could have five upgrades at a cost. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have a lower cost per upgrade.
Premium items have different upgrade requirements as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they may require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons. Regardless, the player will need to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each equipment upgrade will require a different amount of the ingredients for upgrading.
