The health information provided during a disease outbreak must be grounded in evidence. This would help to prevent adverse psychological reactions and somatization symptoms that can engulf healthcare systems, especially in clinical areas like ENT, which frequently treat airway problems.
To investigate the clinical and drug resistance characteristics of
infections in the Huainan region of Anhui and provide a reference for the clinical selection of antimicrobial agents.
This single-center retrospective analysis included 76 patients with
infection in Huainan during the period from October 2018 to March 2020. The hospital department in which the patients were treated and the drug susceptibility characteristics of the
isolates were recorded.
Among the 76 patients, the lung was the most common site of infection, and intensive care unit was the main hospital department. Extended spectrum beta-lactamase screening revealed expression by all 76 isolates of
. Of the 76 isolates, 92.1% exhibited multiple drug resistance or extensive drug resistance.
isolates were sensitive to cefepime and imipenem, but not to other beta-lactam antibiotics. Twenty isolates were resistant to all 21 types of antibiotics. Of the 20 patients infected with extensively drug-resistant isolates, nine (45%) died.
Drug resistance is increasing in
. The antimicrobial agent imipenem may be effective for treatment of
infections. Fluoroquinolones, aminoglycosides, and fourth-generation cephalosporins are suitable options for antibiotic therapy.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the associations between sonographical measurements of the umbilical cord and birth weight in 20-24 weeks of gestations.
This cross-sectional study was conducted with the participation of 220 low-risk pregnant women between 20-24 gestational weeks. Biparietal diameter, head and abdominal circumference, and femur length were measured for anthropometric calculations. Umbilical cord including umbilical vein diameters, placental thickness, umbilical artery. Doppler measurements (RI, PI) were recorded.
In accordance with the results of statistical computations, an inverse relationship was found between umbilical vein diameter and birth weight of a large gestational age (LGA) newborn in 20-24 gestational weeks (
< .05). There was no significant relationship between other parameters and birth weight of LGA newborns.
There is an inverse relationship between birth weights of newborns with LGA and umbilical vein diamater at 20-24 weeks of pregnancy. The umbilical vein diameter in the second trimester may be a promising measurement on predicting LGA fetus. The researches have not confirmed the physiopathology of this finding yet, but it is paving the path for future studies.

To describe a case of fulminant idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) in a child with "malignant" presentation.
A 16-year-old, previously healthy, girl presented with bilateral visual loss and bilateral global limitation of eye movements in the absence of headache. Extensive laboratory evaluation for infectious, inflammatory, autoimmune, and neoplastic conditions was negative. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain and lumbar puncture findings were consistent with a diagnosis of IIH. Extraocular motility improved in the next few days as well as optic disc edema but visual acuity remained poor.
The authors believe that the acute, severe, and fulminant ("malignant") presentation with markedly elevated intracranial pressure may produce the unique presentation of severe vision loss and bilateral complete ophthalmoplegia. Interestingly, there was no headache. To our knowledge this is the first such case to be reported in the English language ophthalmic literature.

Three hundred sixty-nine dyads of fathers and children were screened using self-report measures of demographic data, parental rejection, child psychological maladjustment, and disordered eating behavior. Children's subjective perceptions of relationship with father have more impact on their psychological outcomes and unhealthy dietary patterns than father reported parenting quality. Children's unhealthy psychological adjustment may be an essential underlying mechanism linking perceived paternal rejection of children's emotional eating behaviors.
The imbalance of Th17/Treg cells has been recently suggested as a new risk factors for recurrent implantation failure (RIF). Furthermore Th17/Treg cells are involved in immune regulation in peripheral blood and endometrial tissue of patients with RIF. In this research, we investigated the effects of Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) on the level and function of Th17 and Treg cells in women with RIF. It may be possible to improve pregnancy outcomes by modulating high cytokine levels.
Women with RIF received oral HCQ (
= 60) on day 4 of the menstrual cycle and continued until day 20 of the menstrual cycle and 2 days before embryo transfer and continued until the day of the pregnancy test, for a total of 16 days in another cycle. The serum levels of IL-17 and IL-10, the expression of transcription factors related to Th17 and Treg cells and the immune-reactivity of IL-17, IL-21 as Th17 related cytokines and IL-10, TGF- β as Treg related cytokines in endometrial tissues were evaluated by ELISA, real-time PCR, and fluorescent immunohistochemistry respectively.
