This study includes levels up to and including Strategist (i.e. a substantial percentage of test-takers from most populations). Levels above Strategist were validated using another method because (1) there is less Cook-Greuter data available at these levels, and (2) the two scoring methods diverge sufficiently, making comparison difficult. The second study, of 71 inventories, attempts to validate the STAGES scoring method at levels above Strategist by testing the inter-rater reliability among four scorers. The inter-rater reliability above Strategist, using the weighted Kappa statistic, was found to be moderate to substantial, indicating that the instrument and scoring method has internal validity for these four, rare higher levels. Additionally, the inter-rater reliability over all STAGES levels were found to be very strong. © 2020 The Author(s).Background Outbreaks of infectious diseases are the major concern after flooding. Flood makes people displacement which would be more complicated with inadequate sanitation. Settling in crowded shelters in absence of clean water and inaccessibility to health care services makes people more vulnerable to get infection. This review aimed to discuss about potential undesirable outcomes of flooding occurred in 2019 in Iran. Methods A comprehensive search was carried out in databases including PubMed, Google scholar, Scopus, Science Direct, Iran medex, Magiran and SID (Scientific information database) from 2000 to 2019. All original descriptive articles on flood were concerned. Related articles on flood disturbance were considered. Also, publication of red cross society was considered as only reliable reference in evaluation of consequences of flood occurred in 2019 in Iran. Results Flooding in Iran, was started in March 2019 and lasted to April 2019. Flood affected 31 provinces and 140 rivers burst their banks, aation of Parasitologists.Quality of care for patients of TB suffers in India as well as in other countries, because the commonly accepted definitions of high quality care, rarely goes beyond correct diagnosis, treatment and adherence. The problem with the existing definitions and metrics of quality careis that they leave out patients, and when high quality care is defined without patients' perspectives, their needs and expectations are not addressed. Thispaper, based on a workshop held by TB survivors, attempts to examine the current state of quality of care extended to patients of TB, and to improve the scope of this care for the affected individuals, by the government, the healthcare system, and the society. The aim of the workshop and this paperis to arrive at a comprehensive, inclusive, and most importantly, a patient-centric definition of what quality of care looks like - to them. © 2020 The Author(s).Background. The Gambler II is a web-based utility assessment tool supporting visual analogue scale (VAS), standard gamble (SG), and time trade-off (TTO) utility assessments. It contains novel features, including an easy to use project development authoring tool and use of multimedia clips for health state descriptions. Objectives. Evaluate the usability and understandability of the patient-facing side of The Gambler. Investigate the feasibility of using The Gambler and evaluate its impact on patient knowledge regarding the relevant health states. Materials and Methods. We used The Gambler to assess utilities on a convenience sample of 55 users for common long-term complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus diabetic neuropathy, diabetic retinopathy, and diabetic foot infection requiring transmetatarsal amputation. Using VAS, SG, and TTO, we collected metadata, such as time spent on each assessment and the entire assessment process. We evaluated usability with an adaptation of the System Usability Scale survey and understandability. We evaluated impact on knowledge gained through knowledge assessments about these complications before and after use of The Gambler. Results. Overall satisfaction with The Gambler was high, 4.02 on a 5-point scale. Usability rated highly at 84.93 on a normalized scale between 0 and 100. Knowledge scores increased significantly following use of The Gambler from pretest mean of 68% to posttest mean of 76% (P less then 0.01). Average time using the software ∼7½ minutes. Conclusions. The Gambler is an easy to use and understand computer-based tool for utility assessment. It is feasible to use within clinical encounters to support shared decision making, and it has unique features that make it a powerful tool for investigators interested in research on health utilities. © The Author(s) 2020.In many situations, cells migrate through tiny orifices. Examples include the extravasation of immune cells from the bloodstream for fighting infections, the infiltration of cancer cells during metastasis, and the migration of human pathogens. An extremely motile and medically relevant type of human pathogen is Acanthamoeba castellanii. In the study presented here, we investigated how a combination of microparticles and microstructured interfaces controls the migration of A. castellanii trophozoites. The microinterfaces comprised well-defined micropillar arrays, and the trophozoites easily migrated through the given constrictions by adapting the shape and size of their intracellular vacuoles and by adapting intracellular motion. Samuraciclib price After feeding the trophozoite cells in microinterfaces with synthetic, stiff microparticles of various sizes and shapes, their behavior changed drastically if the particles were smaller than the micropillar gap, migration was still possible. If the cells incorporated particles larger than the pillar gap, they could become immobilized but could also display remarkable problem-solving capabilities. For example, they turned rod-shaped microparticles such that their short axis fit through the pillar gap or they transported the particles above the structure. As migration is a crucial contribution to A. castellanii pathogenicity and is also relevant to other biological processes in microenvironments, such as cancer metastasis, our results provide an interesting strategy for controlling the migration of cells containing intracellular particles by microstructured interfaces that serve as migration-limiting environments.
