CellProfiler 4 provides significantly improved performance in complex workflows compared to previous versions. This release will ensure that researchers will have continued access to CellProfiler's powerful computational tools in the coming years.Four new compounds, basjoochromene A (1), basjoochromene B (2), basjoochromene C (3) and basjoochromene D (4) were isolated from the 70% ethanol extract of the rhizomes of Musa basjoo using column chromatography techniques. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data interpretation, mass spectrometric analyses. The transition from bullying victimization to bullying perpetration is well documented in the literature. However, the mechanisms linking bullying victimization to perpetration are not fully understood. The main aim of the current study was to conduct a preliminary research investigating the indirect effects of youths bullying victimization on bullying perpetration through irrational cognitions and externalizing problems. The second aim of the study was to explore the moderating role of the type of parental attachment (secure vs. insecure) in the proposed model in explaining the association of bullying victimization and bullying perpetration. Data were collected from 269 adolescents (11-15 years; M = 11.98, SD = .68), enrolled in middle public schools from Romania. Path analysis and moderated path analysis were conducted to explore the direct and indirect effects and moderating effects, respectively. Study findings indicate that bullying victimization was indirectly related to bullying perpetration separately through youths' irrational cognition as well as through externalizing problems. The serial indirect pathway from victimization to perpetration through irrational cognitions leading further to externalizing problems was also significant. However, the type of attachment that adolescents reported having toward their parents failed to moderate the indirect pathways, since all the interaction terms were nonsignificant. These findings advance the field prevention and intervention by identifying irrational cognitions and externalizing problems as important targets that anti-bullying programs should address to stop the transition from victims of bullying to perpetrators.Chemical investigation of the whole plant of Sauropus hirsutus Beille led to the isolation of eight quinolines and two known flavonoids. Furthermore, five quinolines were new, two were reported in plant for the first time and one was known. Cytotoxicity evaluation against cholangiocarcinoma, KKU-M156, showed that the most active compound was 4-hydroxy-6-methoxy-7,8-methylenedioxyquinaldine (IC50 20.54 ± 6.82 µM) which was a little more active than the cisplatin standard (IC50 24.39 ± 1.14 µM).Microbial transformation is an important tool to perform selective conversion of compounds to derivatives which are difficult to produce synthetically. In order to obtain icariside II and icaritin, the active components in Herba Epimedii in vivo, biotransformation studies using microbes as biocatalysts were carried out. Icariside II (2) and icaritin (3) were produced through biotransformation of icariin (1) using the fungi Hormoconis resinae and Mortierella ramanniana var. angulispora in 98% and 92% yields, respectively. In the subsequent transformation studies, 2 was deglycosylated to form 3 by Gliocladium deliquescens, whereas 3 was further converted to a novel compound icaritin-3-O-β-d-glucopyranoside (4) and previously known icaritin-3,7-O-β-d-diglucopyranoside (5) by Mucor hiemalis. Biological evaluation of these compounds using MTT assay exhibited potent cytotoxic activities against human cancer cell lines A549, A375P, and MCF-7, with icariin being the most active, indicating that glycosylation plays a role in the cytotoxic activity. In a cross-cultural study, we investigated the link between explicit attitudes towards the hijab, and implicit measures of cultural and religious bias during the recognition of emotions. Participants tested in Austria (N = 71), and in Turkey (N = 70) reported their attitude towards the hijab, and categorised in a mousetracker task happy and sad faces of women, shown with five levels of intensity, and framed either by a hijab or by an oval-shaped mask. Navoximod order The two samples did not differ in their explicit attitudes towards the hijab. However, negative attitude towards the hijab predicted greater sadness attribution to happy faces with the hijab in Austrian participants. Unrelated to their explicit attitudes, Turkish participants attributed more sadness to happy faces with than without the hijab. Results suggest that the sight of the hijab activated, in both Austrian and Turkish participants, implicit biases resulting in associations with sadness and negative emotions. In this work, in order to explore a new Algerian medicinal plant used in traditional medicine, the essential oil of the leaves of Cachrys sicula L. (Apiaceae) collected from Algeria, obtained by hydrodistillation, was analyzed by GC/MS. link2 Thirty-two compounds were identified accounting for 98.6% of the total oil, which is characterized by a high content of monoterpene hydrocarbons (74.8%). The main constituents of the essential oil were β-pinene (17.9%), sabinene (17.8%), myrcene (12%), and α-pinene (11.4%). In vitro antioxidant activity of the essential oil was assayed by three methods, namely ABTS•+, metal chelating, and DPPH• assays. The antioxidant activity of the oil was higher in the ABTS•+ method. Anticholinesterase activity was screened by the Ellman method against acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) which are the chief enzymes of Alzheimer's disease. The results showed mild acetylcholinesterase and good butyrylcholinesterase inhibitory effects.Whether a cognitive process is operated automatically or in a controlled manner has been a long-standing question in cognitive psychology. However, this issue has not been investigated in the activation of metaphoric association. A primed word valence judgment task is often used to test the activation of metaphoric association, in which participants first see a prime (bright/dark square or fixation point moving up or down from the center of the screen) and then make a valence judgment to a target word. Metaphoric congruency effect occurs when participants make faster judgments to the target with valence being matched with the prime (good followed bright/top prime) than being mismatched with the prime (good followed dark/bottom prime). In the present two experiments, we manipulated prime-target stimulus onset asynchrony (SOA) and proportion of metaphorically congruent trials (congruency proportion) to tease apart the effects of automatic and controlled activation of brightness-valence and spatial-valence metaphoric associations on word valence judgments. Results showed an overall effect of congruency proportion on brightness-valence and spatial-valence metaphoric congruency effect, which was independent of prime-target SOA. The effect was enhanced or reversed when congruency proportion was higher or lower than 0.5, respectively, suggesting that the activation of metaphoric association could be modulated by strategic control. The implications of these findings on the Conceptual Metaphor Theory and semantic priming theories are discussed.
The aim of this prospective cohort study was to evaluate the level of physical activity, self-efficacy and health-related quality of life in patients with chronic pain, at baseline and one year after physiotherapy rehabilitation at a specialist pain clinic.
All patients who underwent rehabilitation at the physiotherapy unit at the Pain Centre at Sahlgrenska University Hospital/Östra in Gothenburg during a nine-month period were asked to participate in the study. The participants were evaluated regarding self-efficacy, health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and physical activity during physiotherapy treatment and one year later. Physical activity was measured both subjectively (self-reported physical activity) and objectively (accelerometer).
Out of 42 patients who participated in the baseline evaluation, 28 (19 women and nine men) were included in the one-year follow-up. The patients had increased levels of vigorous physical activity at one-year follow-up, without deterioration of pain. There were no sith chronic pain.
Patients with chronic pain can increase their level of vigorous physical activity after a period of rehabilitation without deterioration of pain.IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILIATIONPhysical activity is an important part of rehabilitation for chronic pain patients, but many patients expect more pain after exercise, which they fear may affect performance and maintenance of physical activity.Patients with chronic pain at a specialist clinic increased their level of vigorous physical activity one year after physiotherapist led rehabilitation without deterioration of pain.Levels of physical activity and perceived physical function during rehabilitation may predict levels of physical activity 1 year after rehabilitation.Physiotherapist led rehabilitation seems to be beneficial for long-term improved physical activity in patients with chronic pain.Adaptive control processes that minimize distraction often operate in a context-specific manner. link3 For example, they may minimize distraction from irrelevant conversations during a lecture but not in the hallway afterwards. It remains unclear, however, whether (a) salient perceptual features or (b) task sets based on such features serve as contextual boundaries for adaptive control in standard distractor-interference tasks. To distinguish between these possibilities, we manipulated whether the structure of a standard, visual distractor-interference task allowed (Experiment 1) or did not allow (Experiment 2) participants to associate salient visual features (i.e., color patches and color words) with different task sets. We found that changing salient visual features across consecutive trials reduced a popular measure of adaptive control in distractor-interference tasks - the congruency sequence effect (CSE) - only when the task structure allowed participants to associate these visual features with different task sets. These findings extend prior support for the task set hypothesis from somewhat atypical cross-modal tasks to a standard unimodal task. Conversely, they pose a challenge to an alternative "attentional reset" hypothesis, and related views, wherein changing salient perceptual features always results in a contextual boundary for the CSE.Bixasteroid (1), one new steroid together with five known compounds (2-6), were isolated from the ethyl acetate fraction of ethanol extract of Bixa orellana fruits. All of these known compounds were isolated from the plant for the first time. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis, and the absolute configuration of compound 1 was determined by X-ray crystallographic data analysis as well as by the quantum chemical ECD calculations. All the isolated compounds were tested for their anti-inflammatory activities. Compounds 1 and 2 showed inhibiting NO release activities in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 macrophages with the IC50 values of 4.72 ± 0.28 and 5.48 ± 1.48 μM, respectively.
