There is no consensus in existing literature on the pulse power, application time, frequency and the dose of energy of laser therapy for the patients. Therefore, we conducted this research for the assessment of safety and efficiency of ultrasound and high-intensity laser therapy (HILT) in the lumbar disc herniation (LDH) patients.
Our present research was approved by the institutional review board in the West China-Guangan Hospital. All the participants would acquire the written informed consent. From December 2020 to December 2021, we will conduct a prospective evaluation via a senior surgeon for 1 hundred LDH patients who plan to undergo the conservative treatment at our hospital. In this research, the inclusion criteria contained the patients with lumbar disc herniation diagnosed by lumbar MRI; the patients with no history of trauma or congenital abnormalities; and the patients with sufficient psychological ability to understand and then answer the questions raised in assessment scale. The participants were randomly divided into the control group or HILT group after performing the examination of baseline. The main outcome was the pain score of visual analog scale. The other results contained the adverse effects, back range of motion as well as functional scores.
We assumed that the HILT is as effective as the ultrasound therapy in treating pain for LDH.

Asthma and dry eye disease are common clinical diseases. Studies have shown that asthma is related to dry eye, but there is no high-quality evidence-based medical evidence.
This protocol and final study will be conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic review and Meta-Analysis Protocols 2015 statement. We will search PubMed, EMBASE, ISI Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure for all relevant literature published from their inception up to August 1, 2020. Literature search, data extraction, and quality assessment will be carried out independently by two researchers, and a third researcher will resolve differences when necessary. The association between dry eye disease and asthma will indicate as odds ratio with 95% confidence interval and statistically analyzed using RevMan 5.3 software. If the studies included have high heterogeneity, we will conduct sensitivity analysis and subgroup analysis.
The protocol is intended to guide a meta-analysis aimed at identifying and quantifying the association between asthma and dry eye disease.

Xihuang pill, a famous traditional Chinese medicine formulation, is a broad-spectrum anti-tumor drug and has been widely used for the treatment of lung cancer in China. The aim of this study is to systematically investigate the efficacy and safety of Xihuang pill for the treatment of lung cancer.
We will perform the comprehensive literature search in the following databases from their inceptions to August 2020 for data extraction PubMed, the Cochrane Library, Embase, the China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Database, Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Database, and Chinese Biomedical Literature Database. Cochrane Risk of Bias tool will be used to assess the risk of bias of included studies. #link# The RevMan 5.4 and Stata 16.0 software will be applied for statistical analyses. Statistical heterogeneity will be computed by I tests. Sensitivity analysis will be conducted to evaluate the stability of the results. The publication bias will be evaluated by funnel plots and Egger test. The quality of evidence will be assessed by the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluate system (GRADE) system.
The results of our research will be published in a peer-reviewed journal.
The conclusion of this study will provide evidence to show whether Xihuang pill is an effective intervention for patient with lung cancer.

Alopecia areata (AA) is a common, inflammatory, nonscarring type of hair loss that is characterized by depression, anxiety and social isolation. In recent years, Plum-blossom needle plus Chinese herbal medicine has gradually shown its clinical advantages and been more and more widely used in China. Whereas, there has been no systematic review and meta-analysis. The purpose of this study is to estimate the safety and effectiveness of Plum-blossom needle plus Chinese herbal medicine in AA treatment.
Seven databases as following PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Chinese Scientific Journal Database (VIP), and Chinese Biomedical Literatures Database (CBM) will be searched from their inception to August 2020. Two reviewers (LBL and ZYZ) will respectively regulate research selection, data extraction, and risk of bias assessment. A third reviewer will be settled to consulting, if necessary. Review Manager Software 5.4 will be implemented for this study.
The results will be published in a peer-reviewed medical journal. This meta-analysis will provide a synthetic review of the credible evidence for the treatment of Plum-blossom needle plus Chinese herbal medicine with AA.
This systematic review and meta-analysis expects to provide high-quality evidence regarding the synergistic effect of Plum-blossom needle plus Chinese herbal medicine treatment for AA.

Vitamin D-dependent rickets type I (VDDR-I) is a rare form of rickets, which is an autosomal recessive disease caused by 1α-hydroxylase enzyme deficiency. However, long-term dental management and microscopic morphology of teeth remain largely unclear.
We report the case of a 10-year-old Chinese boy complaining of yellowish-brown teeth with extensive caries.
Clinical and laboratory examinations were performed, and VDDR-I was confirmed. Scanning electron microscopy confirmed amelogenesis imperfecta.
The patient had been taking drugs intervention for VDDR-I from the age of 3 years. learn more decayed teeth were treated, and metal-preformed crowns were placed to prevent further impairment. Sequence tooth extraction and remineralization therapy were also performed.
After 3 years of follow-up, the patient exhibited normal tooth replacement and an acceptable oral hygiene status. However, the new erupted teeth had amelogenesis imperfecta.
This case is the first to confirm amelogenesis imperfecta in a patient with VDDR-I that was not prevented by drug intervention.
