ADHD was the most common comorbid mental disorder in SLD (54.9%). The prevalence of SLD in primary school children in Turkey is similar with previous studies. In this study, a new idea of the optimal path generation method was proposed and a path planning strategy for robotic cochlear implant of perimodiolar electrode was designed. The centerline of scala tympani channel was taken as the optimal implant path of the perimodiolar electrode, which aimed to reduce the damage of the electrode to the cochlea during implantation. First, the three-dimensional cochlear model was reconstructed based on the micro-computed tomography images of cochlea, and it was re-segmented to obtain the cross sections of the scala tympani at different angles. Then, the image processing method was used to determine the central point of the scala tympani cross sections. The cubic B-spline interpolation method was used to fit these discrete central points to generate the optimal path. Finally, the coordinate information of the optimal path was combined with the stylet extraction state of perimodiolar electrode to conduct the path planning for robotic cochlear implant, and the result was sent to the robot for kinematic inverse solution to obtain the robot motion trajectory. The robotic cochlear implant experiment was performed with the model of scala tympani. The results showed that the maximum implant force based on path planning was 0.084 N, and the maximum implant force without path planning was 0.134 N. The optimal path generation and the path planning method effectively help to reduce the damage of the electrode to the cochlea. Background Hypoxic brain injury is one of the major causes of neurodevelopmental impairment and cardiovascular disability. LncRNA SNHG1 works as a critical factor in hypoxic induced injury, however, the potential mechanism is still not known well. Methods The expression level of SNHG1 and miR-140-5p was detected by qRT-PCR. The western blot assay was performed to measure the level of Bcl-XL and apoptosis-related proteins. The target relationship between lncRNA SNHG1 and miR-140-5p, as well as miR-140-5p and Bcl-XL was detected by dual luciferase reporter gene assay. Cell apoptosis was assessed using Annexin V/PI staining by flow cytometry. Cell viability was analyzed by MTT assay. Results Oxygen glucose deprivation (OGD) treatment inhibited SNHG1 and Bcl-XL expression and enhanced miR-140-5p expression. OGD treatment induced cell viability inhibition, cell apoptosis promotion were partially abrogated when SH-SY5Y cells were transfected with pcDNA3.1-SNHG1 or miR-140-5p inhibitor. Moreover, luciferase reporter assay revealed that lncRNA SNHG1 bound directly to miR-140-5p, and miR-140-5p directly targeted Bcl-XL. The protective effect of SNHG1 overexpressing on cell apoptosis induced by OGD was attenuated after transfected with miR-140-5p mimic or sh-Bcl-XL in SH-SY5Y cells. Conclusion LncRNA SNHG1-modulated miR-140-5p inhibition regulates Bcl-XL expression, thereby reducing cell apoptosis and recovering cell viability of SH-SY5Y cells. The results in this study provide novel insight into the mechanism of SNHG1 mediated signaling pathway during hypoxic brain injury.PURPOSE In developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH), the centers of hip rotation move in the superior and lateral direction. In total hip arthroplasty for such cases, movement of the center of hip rotation is in the inferior and medial direction. It causes an increase in leg length and a decrease in acetabular offset. We therefore evaluated the change of hip offset and leg length before and after surgery with two stems having a high offset option. PATIENTS AND METHODS The preoperative diagnosis was secondary osteoarthritis due to DDH excluded Crowe IV. A stem selection was decided based on preoperative two-dimensional templating. Total 55 hips in 50 patients were followed up for minimum 10 years. Pre- and postoperative clinical evaluations were performed using a hip joint function scoring system. Radiographic evaluations were used for offset and leg length measurements and other associated factors. RESULTS Both stems showed excellent clinical results. A high offset option was used in 60% of all cases. No postoperative dislocations were observed. The biological fixation was stable in all cases. The hip offset was restored without excessive leg lengthening in most cases. MC3 CONCLUSION Anatomical consistency could be maintained by using a stem which matched geometry of the proximal part and had offset option. These cementless tapered stems having a high offset option are suitable for Crowe I to III hip dysplasia if two-dimensional X-ray templates fit the shape of the proximal femurs. They were associated with excellent clinical results and biological fixation. The offset option may be useful to adjust leg length and offset in DDH patients. Background Neoadjuvant chemotherapy is important for advanced laryngeal and hypopharyngeal carcinoma (LHC).Aims/objectives To determine the efficacy and toxicity of the combination of docetaxel, nedaplatin, and 5-fluorouracil in induction treatment of advanced LHC.Material and methods A total of 157 cancer patients were included. The primary endpoints of this study were overall response rate, pathological complete response rate, the safety of induction treatment, progression-free survival (PFS), and overall survival (OS).Results After two-cycle induction treatment, 17(10.8%) patients experienced complete remission, 76 (48.4%) experienced partial remission, 47 (30.0%) had stable disease, and 17 (10.8%) had progressive disease. The TNM stage decreased by two or more in 17 cases, decreased by one in 71 cases, increased in 15 cases, and did not change in 54 cases after induction treatment. Most of the adverse chemotherapy responses were alleviated by symptomatic management. After the induction treatment, 29 patients continued receiving chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy, and 112 underwent surgical management depending on tumor site followed by radiotherapy. The median PFS was 13.00 ± 2.10 months and the median OS was 14.20 ± 0.29 months.Conclusions and significance Combination of docetaxel, nedaplatin, and 5-fluorouracil plays an important role in the comprehensive treatment of advanced LHC.
