World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
Upgrades to items allow players to boost an item's gear score up to 700, and then add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory and heading to the kiln.
Certain items are worth upgrading because of their unique stats. (For example, a perfectly broken point armor that is rolled can be used in melee PvP). Other items, like weapons don't really change after an upgrade and aren't worth the effort.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to improve their numeric stats like the chance to crit, attack damage PvE and damage to PvP. Weapons also have a flat bonus which increases the damage they deal per second. A lot of weapons also come with a fixed bonus which is activated when three or more identical weapons are used in a unit. In some cases this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage that a weapon upgrades on its own.
A weapon's upgrade costs depend on the rarity of the weapon and its current level. For instance, an upgrade to a +2 weapon will require two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will increase until it needs an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.
Upgrades to weapons also alter the stats of the base. While this is usually a good thing but it can also have negative consequences as well. Upgrades can make items inaccessible, unless you're extremely lucky.
Armor items can be upgraded to improve their stats. For instance, if you have chests or helms, this will increase its base defense while gloves and belts enhance their required strength and dexterity. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense percent. This means that it can sometimes reroll down to a lower value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats that it will gain after upgrading, as well as the values of these stats. This means that the weapon will gain an attack damage of 3% if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. The 3% does not mean that the weapon will strike three times less, since it is an absolute number.
Rerolling a weapon is also possible by pressing the green button within the item menu, using the arrows that circle. The item will be rerolled and change its statistics, but not reset the weapon's levels, or tie it to the account status.
Armor
A few armor upgrades can make the world of difference to your survival. Certain sets provide massive boosts to poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, making it easier to navigate through tough terrain. In general, the greater defense your character has, the more value you get from each point of health therefore it is important to upgrade your armor as much as you can.
To upgrade your armor, go to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four in total and each one requires you to complete a specific side-quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've done the main side quest and have completed the fountain in question you'll be able to contact any Great Fairy to open up the menu for upgrading your armor.
The amount of materials required to upgrade each piece of armor will differ. In general, you'll be looking at anywhere between three Red Chuchu Jellies and ten Rupees for the first upgrade, then anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Horns for each subsequent one. For instance the Champion Leathers could be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep pace with a good-sized group of adversaries in most cold environments, and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded all the way to +20 defense, giving the protection needed to survive a full on raid with a few of your friends.
You can't upgrade your armor like weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior then you should concentrate on upgrading your armor to increase physical strength or the power of spells. It's also worthwhile to save your armor upgrades to use for armor you'll still be wearing at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you'll wear for the final boss battle as well as the Monter Parts merchant's mask.
You can also unlock some perks for your armor by giving the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. It is generally recommended to save these upgrades to the weapon you'll be using to beat the game. For example, the Longsword or Battleaxe. But it's useful to have a few upgrades to the helmets and chest armor to let you get around a few monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquid substances that, when consumed give the user a temporary status effect. There are five different types of potions, each having a specific set of effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to enhance their level of effectiveness. Alternatively the effects of certain potions can be enhanced by adding glowstone dust or redstone to them.
Upgrades to potion require a certain amount of XP. This can be earned through crafting them on a craft table or by placing them in the Alchemist chest. The cost of upgrading varies based on the type of potion used and the item's rarity as well as Mark Level.
To upgrade a potion simply right-click on it in your inventory. Select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open a GUI that lets you choose the potion that you would like to upgrade and the amount of experience they'll offer when upgraded. Upgrades to potions can be made in batches of up to five at a single time, and the XP they provide will be added to your current XP count.
Once a potion is upgraded and stored, it will not degrade until you make use of it again or break the bottle within the container it is stored. You can also change the name of the potion by clicking it in your inventory.
There were a few updates to the mechanics of potion in version 1.7.2. For instance splash potions now have the duration of 0.08 seconds (this is not the same as the 22.5 seconds displayed on the item hover display). The table for potion is constructed from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. This allows it to be utilized by players in Survival and Bedrock. Unlike the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions cannot be combined in cauldrons. The same is true for using a potion within a cauldron that is full. This will drain the potion and refill the bottle.
There are also simmering item upgrading that are made using dragon breath and splash potions. Redstone is also added to lingering potions to enhance their effects. The table of potion ingredients is now organized more closely to the Java Edition, and new potions were introduced, including the potion of leaping, the decomposition potion, and turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket is a tiny and affordable ornament or piece of jewelry. It can also refer to a piece of art or a decoration that serves a purpose, but is not particularly significant like a thimble. In some cultures, a trinket is used to symbolize affection or friendship, particularly between family members.
In addition to weapons, armor and potions, players can upgrade their trinkets. Upgrades can be purchased by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. Unlike other item upgrades trinkets are able to be swapped out at will without losing their stats.
Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of each zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased with gold, tokens or fragments of trinkets that are rare.
Upgrades are a less expensive alternative to buying a new trinket. One can upgrade their trinket for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same level of base as the old trinket, however, it will also come with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.
When the old Trinkets are no longer usable they can be upgraded. This allows players to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded among players and are a viable alternative to gold.
In general players should upgrade their highest priority items first. This means that the best-in slot items for each class are first upgraded then their secondary gear and other equipment that they will not replace anytime soon (such as a ring or an cloak). It is also important to consider your class's preferred stats when deciding which items to upgrade. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for a tank player, then they should upgrade their chest, helm, and shoulders.
When they are no longer useful, trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The upgraded trinket will give you an additional 1percent bonus. A re-upgrade, however, will destroy the trinket unless it is saved using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets are more expensive than other upgrades but still cheaper than buying new ones.
