Adjustments to clinical depression pursuing Sleeved Gastrectomy
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a leading cause of death worldwide. There is no clear evidence of whether COPD patients are more susceptible to respiratory inflammation associated with short-term exposure to air pollutants than those without COPD.
This study directly compared air pollutant-associated respiratory inflammation between COPD patients and healthy controls.
This study is based on the COPDB panel study (COPD in Beijing). Fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) was repeatedly measured in 53 COPD patients and 82 healthy controls at up to four clinical visits. Concentrations of carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen monoxide, nitrogen dioxide (NO
), sulfur dioxide (SO
), fine particulate matter (PM
), black carbon (BC), ultrafine particles (UFPs), and accumulated-mode particles (Acc) were monitored continuously at a fixed-site monitoring station. Linear mixed-effects models were used to compare the associations between ln-transformed FeNO and average 1-23h concentrations of air pollutanusceptible to respiratory inflammation following PM2.5, NO, CO, and SO2 exposure than individuals without COPD.Antarctica is an isolated and relatively simple ecosystem dominated by microorganisms, providing a rare opportunity to study the spread of airborne microbes and to predict future global climate change. However, little is known about on the diversity and potential sources of microorganisms in the marine atmosphere along the Antarctica coast. Here we explored the airborne bacterial community (i.e., bacteriome) diversity, sources and functional potential along the Antarctic coast based on 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing of 25 bioaerosol samples collected during the 33rd Xuelong Antarctic scientific expedition. Subasumstat mouse The results showed that bacterial communities in the Antarctic bioaerosols i) were predominated by Proteobacteria (91.3%) including Sphingomonas, ii) showed relative low alpha-diversity but high spatiotemporal variabilities; and iii) were potentially immigrated with terrestrial, marine and Antarctic polar bacteria through long-range transport and sea-air exchange pathways. Moreover, canonical correspondence analysis of bacteriome composition showed that wind speed, temperature, and organic carbon had a significant effect on the bacterial community (P 0.05, ANOVA, Tukey HSD test). iv) The functional profiles predicted by Tax4fun2 suggest high representation of function genes related to fatty acid biosynthesis and metabolism, amino acid metabolism, nucleotide metabolism, and carbohydrate metabolism, which is conducive to the formation of microlayers on the surface of the ocean and the survival and growth of bacteria.Ulaanbaatar City, Mongolia is rapidly becoming urbanized and attracts great attention because of environmental issues. This study was performed to assess the status of groundwater quality in Ulaanbaatar at an early but growing stage of urbanization, focusing on nitrate contamination in relation to land use. Along with high total dissolved solids and NO3- concentrations, significant contamination of groundwater is indicated by positive loadings of NO3-, Cl- and δ15N-NO3- along the first principal component of the principal component analysis (PCA). Based on the concentrations and δ15N values of nitrate, groundwater is classified into two groups Group I (baseline quality) and II (contaminated). Nitrate in Group II water in urbanized (esp. peri-urban) areas is higher in concentration (> 10 mg/l NO3-) and N-isotopic values (> 10‰ δ15N-NO3-), while pristine hydrochemistry is observed restrictedly in grassland and forest areas. Other ions (e.g., Cl- and SO42-) are also higher in Group II water. The δ15N-NO3- values in Group II water in combination with the spatial distribution on the land use map indicate that nitrate originates from untreated sewage effluents including pit-latrine leakage in peri-urban areas, while nitrate in Group I water originates from soil organic matter. The relationship between nitrate concentrations and δ2H (and δ18O) values of water suggests that nitrate enrichment is also influenced by evaporation during groundwater recharge. With the help of PCA for compositional data, we suggest a hydrochemical index for groundwater contamination assessment; i.e., the Groundwater Quality Index (GQI) that consists of three variables (concentrations of dissolved silica, nitrate and chloride) and can be used to delineate zones vulnerable to nitrate contamination as a crucial step for the efficient monitoring and management of groundwater quality. The study results suggest an urgent need for the management of unsealed pit latrines that are common in peri-urban areas with high population density.Microcystis spp., are Gram-negative, oxygenic, photosynthetic prokaryotes which use solar energy to convert carbon dioxide (CO2) and minerals into organic compounds and biomass. Eutrophication, rising CO2 concentrations and global warming are increasing Microcystis blooms globally. Due to its high availability and protein content, Microcystis biomass has been suggested as a protein source for animal feeds. This would reduce dependency on soybean and other agricultural crops and could make use of "waste" biomass when Microcystis scums and blooms are harvested. Besides proteins, Microcystis contain further nutrients including lipids, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. However, Microcystis produce cyanobacterial toxins, including microcystins (MCs) and other bioactive metabolites, which present health hazards. In this review, challenges of using Microcystis blooms in feeds are identified. First, nutritional and toxicological (nutri-toxicogical) data, including toxicity of Microcystis to mollusks, crustaceans,nt in animal feed. As an ameliorative measure, antidotes/detoxicants can be used to avoid/reduce the toxic effects. Before using Microcystis in feed ingredients/supplements, further screening for health protection and cost control is required. This work systematically investigated the microbial community structure in the river sediments from upstream of Guanting Reservoir, Beijing, China. A total of 6 wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) locate along the main rivers connected to the reservoir. Water and sediment samples were collected at sites near the effluents of WWTPs (regarded as W groups) or at the upstream/downstream rivers (R groups) to reveal the roles of the reclaimed water recharge. Multivariate techniques including typical statistical analysis, redundancy analysis (RDA), nonmetric multidimensional scaling analysis, and molecular ecological network analysis were used to evaluate the results and their relationships. The representative C/N/P water parameters and concentrations of target organic contaminants kept stable for W and R sites, while the microbial community parameters varied greatly for two groups. The microbial population at W sites were higher but with a lower biological diversity (with a lower Shannon index) than that at R sites, indicating WWTPs greatly altered the microbial community structure at the local reach.
