Digital Mental Health Platforms offer feasible options to increase access to mental health support. This study aimed to examine the acceptability of a Low Intensity Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Digital Mental Health Platform, containing a Virtual Coach, with University Students (n = 16) and Mental Health Professionals (n = 5). Semi-structured interviews, exploratory focus groups, and inductive thematic analysis were conducted. Four overarching themes were identified, with potential users and professionals highlighting positive aspects, elements to be improved, and ambivalent feelings towards the platform overall. However, participants predominately expressed negative experiences indicating that the Virtual Coach was unrelatable and hard to engage with. While Virtual Coaches and similar Digital Mental Health Platforms have the potential to overcome barriers for those attempting to access mental health services, their effectiveness may be limited if the people who need them are not drawn to and then consistently engaged with them. Kaempferide cell line Based on the feedback attained for this specific Digital Mental Health Platform, recommendations are provided for future developers aiming to create similar platforms, to assist in their uptake and ensure ongoing user engagement. We prospectively compared outcomes of two surgical procedures for Stage II and IIIa Kienböck's disease with negative ulnar variance. Group I (13 wrists) was treated with radial shortening alone, and Group II (14 wrists) with combined radial shortening, bone grafting and implantation of a vascular pedicle. At follow-up 3 to 7 years (mean 4.5) after operation, scores by the Quick version of the Disability of Arm, Shoulder and Hand questionnaire and scores for pain and grip strength were significantly better in Group II, but the differences were rather small. On MRI all patients in Group II had revascularization, but 11 patients in Group I had not. We conclude that combining radial shortening with the revascularization procedure improved revascularization. Clinically, both treatments were efficient, and the additional bone grafting and vascular pedicle insertion did not greatly improve function, although statistically there were differences in several follow-up variables. This study also could not identify the independent role of the three procedures (drilling, grafting and artery insertion) in Group II, because decompression or bone grafting alone may be effective.Level of evidence II.Atherosclerosis and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are often regarded as 2 distinct entities. The commonest manifestation of atherosclerosis is ischemic heart disease (IHD), and an association between IHD and IBD has been reported. Atherosclerosis and IBD share common pathophysiological mechanisms in terms of their genetics, immunology, and contributing environmental factors. Factors associated with atherosclerosis are implicated in the development of IBD and vice versa. Therefore, treatments targeting the common pathophysiology pathways may be effective in both conditions. The current review considers the pathophysiological pathways that are shared between the 2 conditions and discusses the implications for treatment and research.Abstract COVID-19 has given rise to a myriad of social, psychological, and health-related complications. The specific mental health implications of COVID-19 are still being uncovered, but we know that there are likely to be negative outcomes for many people. This is particularly the case for vulnerable members of the community, such as those with high health anxiety, and under conditions where individuals feel isolated or disconnected from others. The objective of this study was to examine whether the level of socially motivated Internet use acts as a buffer of the relationship between health anxiety, isolation behaviors, and depression. Participants (N = 473; 67.3 percent female; Mage = 23.03, SD = 7.50) from Australia completed self-report measures during the height of the national pandemic restrictions (April-May 2020). A regression analysis revealed positive relationships between health anxiety and isolation behaviors on depression and highlighted a three-way interaction effect. Specifically, health anxiety was significantly negatively associated with depression when participants engaged in fewer isolation behaviors. However, at higher levels of isolation behaviors, the relationship between health anxiety and depression was attenuated for participants with greater levels of online social connection. The findings suggest that online social connection buffered the negative effects of health anxiety under conditions of isolation. These results offer promising avenues to mitigate against vulnerabilities during the pandemic and highlight the need to promote alternate social support mechanisms in the absence of face-to-face connection.
Both posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and dementia have been associated with a variety of behavioral changes; however, little is known about the behavioral consequences of comorbid PTSD and dementia. An integrative review was conducted to identify and examine studies reporting on behavioral disturbances in Veterans with PTSD and dementia.
PubMed and PsychINFO databases were searched for articles on behavioral disturbances in Veterans with comorbid PTSD and dementia.
Seven studies met inclusion for this review, sampling a total of 822 Veterans. Preliminary findings suggest that though Veterans with dementia and comorbid PTSD may present with more difficult behavioral symptoms, they do not typically display increased levels of aggression.
Given the limited study inventory, the key finding from this review highlights the lack of methodologically rigorous empirical studies on this topic. A research agenda is proposed to encourage future studies to address gaps in the literature.

This case report describes the use of autologous clotted blood mixed with biphasic calcium phosphate microparticles to fill a defect in a nonunion fracture and promote bone regeneration in a dog using a 2-stage surgical approach. This new method was designed and tried in a dog with a chronic, unstable mandibular fracture associated with a large sequestrum. Initial treatment involved debridement of the lesion, then the oral wound and oral vestibule were reconstructed in 2 layers. Four weeks later a second stage surgery allowed placement of a pre-contoured maxillofacial plate to bridge the defect, which was filled with a blood/biphasic calcium phosphate compound implant. Cone-beam computed tomography was used prior to the initial surgery for preoperative planning and 3-D printing of a mandibular template for plate contouring. CT was subsequently used to document the healing process, using a bone density measurement tool to assess bone regeneration.
