The subjects of organizational culture and leadership have been studied several times in various fields. However, studies have tried to determine the relationship between corporate culture and leadership as it is still indistinguishable, or more evidence is needed. The paper describes the perceptions of the staffs about the hospitals' organizational culture types and their managers' leadership styles in these hospitals and the relationships that may exist between these domains.
This is a cross-sectional descriptive study involving 400 participants from three governmental and two non-governmental hospitals during the period from June to December 2018. The target population included all categories of staff working at hospitals as physicians, nurses, paramedics and administrators.
The largest number of participants was 82.5 % from government hospitals while 17.5 % were from non-governmental hospitals. Clan and hierarchy-driven cultures were the top-defined forms of organizational culture at hospitals in thanizational culture types, apart from the Laissez-faire style. This paper has been successful in contributing to the research on this topic and providing indications for understanding certain domains of the hospital industry in Palestine.
The study sought to evaluate the impact of a Rapid Diagnostic Clinic (RDC) service designed to improve general practitioner (GP) referral processes for patients who do not meet existing referral criteria yet present with vague - but potentially concerning - symptoms of cancer. We sought to investigate how well the RDC has performed in the views of local GPs and patients, and through analysis of its activity and performance in the first two years of operation.
The study setting was a single, hospital-based RDC clinic in a University Health Board in South Wales. We used a mixed-method process evaluation study, including routinely collected activity and diagnosis data. All GPs were invited to participate in an online survey (34/165 responded), and a smaller group (n= 8) were interviewed individually. Two focus groups with patients and their carers (n= 7) provided in-depth personal accounts of their experiences.
The focus groups revealed high rates of patient satisfaction with the RDC. GPs were also overwhehis model of service provision can set higher standards for a strongly patient-centred service.
The RDC appears to enable a good patient experience in cancer diagnosis. Patients are seen in timely fashion, and the service is highly regarded by them, their carers, and referring GPs. Although too early to draw conclusions about long-term patient outcomes, there are strong indications to suggest that this model of service provision can set higher standards for a strongly patient-centred service.
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D) is a common and complex disease. Dysfunction of pancreatic β cells, which cannot release sufficient insulin, plays a central role in T2D. Genetics plays a critical role in T2D etiology. Transcription factor GATA4 is required for the pancreatic development, and GATA4 gene mutations are implicated in neonatal or childhood-onset diabetes. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether regulatory variants in GATA4 gene may change GATA4 levels, conferring susceptibility to T2D development.
The promoter region of GATA4 gene was analyzed by targeted sequencing in T2D patients (n = 255) and ethnic-matched controls (n = 371). Dual luciferase activity assay was used for functional study, and EMSA (electrophoretic mobility shift assay) was performed for detecting transcription factor binding.
Thirteen regulatory variants including 5 SNPs were identified. A novel heterozygous variant (32124C > T) and one SNP [31487C > G (rs1053351749)] were only identified in T2D. Both regulatory variants significantly affected GATA4 gene promoter activity in cultured HEK-293 and INS-1 cells. Our data suggested that GATA4 gene regulatory variants may contribute to T2D development as a rare risk factor.

Both TriBAFF-CAR-T and CD19-CAR-T cells significantly induced the lysis of Raji, BALL-1, and Jeko-1. Moreover, when CD19-CAR-T cells specifically caused the lysis of K562 with overexpressed CD19, the lethal effect of TriBAFF-CAR-T cells was also specific for BAFFR-bearing K562 with increasing levels of interleukin-2 and INF-γ. The TriBAFF-CAR-T have the same effect with CD19-CAR-T cells in treating Raji xenofraft mice. TriBAFF-CAR-T cells also have great effect in CD19

Student Interest Group in Neurology (SIGN) chapters across the medical schools in the United States provide opportunities for medical students to participate in clinical, research, and service activities in neurology. Despite these, applicants for the field of neurology have traditionally been low.
Following changes were introduced an open board style SIGN chapter executive committee with greater active engagement of first and second year students. New activities included journal clubs, hands on workshops, celebration/cause events (example ALS walk). In addition, a free neurology clinic was introduced. Activities were planned in consultation with office of medical education, and were organized during 'down times'. Data on student enrollment, activities successfully carried out, students interested in neurology residency, number of neurology-related research projects with student involvement were collected prior to changes and compared to values after changes were introduced.
Post intervention, student engagement in neurology activities and projects increased significantly.
