The recommendations of the semFYC's Program for Preventive Activities and Health Promotion (PAPPS) for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are presented. The quality of testing and the strength of the recommendation are included in the main recommendations.Cancer is a major cause of morbidity and mortality. Tobacco use, unhealthy diet, and physical inactivity are some of the lifestyle risk factors that have led to an increase in cancer. This article updates the evidence, and includes recommendations for prevention strategies for each of the cancers with the highest incidence. These are based on the reduction of risk factors (primary prevention) and early diagnosis of cancer through screening and early detection of signs and symptoms, in medium-risk and high-risk populations.Primary and secondary health determinants explain a large part of the morbidity and mortality observed in primary care. The recommendations of the Program of Preventive Activities and Health Promotion (PAPPS) of the semFyC are presented, for the promotion of a healthy lifestyle through intervention methodology and preventive actions in tobacco consumption, alcohol consumption, healthy eating, physical activity in free time and prevention of traffic accidents and child restraint systems. The most common clinical prevention guidelines are outlined. The recommendations are updated, new aspects are pointed out, such as the definition of low-risk alcohol consumption, and the bibliography is updated. To analyze the situation, evaluation and proposals for improvement of the Preventive Activities and Health Promotion Program (PAPPS).
A qualitative study of situation analysis was carried out for the evaluation of the PAPPS in 2 phases 1) Generation of ideas and collection of information through a DAFO matrix, using 2 types of criteria internal (strengths and weaknesses), and external (threats and opportunities); 2) Prioritization of the improvement proposals collected. Selection of participants Key informants were identified taking into account their relationship and knowledge of the PAPPS program. All members of the PAPPS, expert groups and members with past participation were included, as well as the coordinators, including the autonomous leaders of the PAPPS. Two invitations to participate in the study were sent the first from December 29, 2017 to February 11, 2018, and the second from January 10 to 23, 2019. The information was obtained from a questionnaire designed to be self-completed.

Evidence suggests that SARS-CoV-2 infection causes dysregulation of the immune system. However, the unique signature of early immune responses remains elusive. We characterized the transcriptome of rhesus macaques and mice infected with SARS-CoV-2. Alarmin S100A8 was robustly induced in SARS-CoV-2-infected animal models as well as in COVID-19 patients. Paquinimod, a specific inhibitor of S100A8/A9, could rescue the pneumonia with substantial reduction of viral loads in SARS-CoV-2-infected mice. Remarkably, Paquinimod treatment resulted in almost 100% survival in a lethal model of mouse coronavirus infection using the mouse hepatitis virus (MHV). A group of neutrophils that contributes to the uncontrolled pathological damage and onset of COVID-19 was dramatically induced by coronavirus infection. Paquinimod treatment could reduce these neutrophils and regain anti-viral responses, unveiling key roles of S100A8/A9 and aberrant neutrophils in the pathogenesis of COVID-19, highlighting new opportunities for therapeutic intervention.
Preterm infants are a special population that vulnerable to respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection and the lower respiratory tract infections (LRTIs) caused by RSV could be severe and even life-threating. The purpose of the present study was to identify candidate genes of preterm infants who are susceptible to RSV infection and provide a new insight into the pathogenesis of RSV infection.
Three datasets (GSE77087, GSE69606 and GSE41374) containing 183 blood samples of RSV infected patients and 33 blood samples of healthy controls from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database were downloaded and the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were screened out. The function and pathway enrichments were analyzed through Database for Annotation, Visualization and Integrated Discovery (DAVID) website. The protein-protein interaction (PPI) network for DEGs was constructed through Search Tool for the Retrieval of Interacting Genes (STRING). The module analysis was performed by Cytoscape software and hub genes were identified.
