The main aim of this paper is to detect embedded dynamics of the Györgyi-Field model of the Belousov-Zhabotinsky chemical reaction. The corresponding three-variable model given as a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations depends on one parameter, the flow rate. As certain values of this parameter can give rise to chaos, an analysis was performed in order to identify different dynamics regimes. Dynamical properties were qualified and quantified using classical and also new techniques; namely, phase portraits, bifurcation diagrams, the Fourier spectra analysis, the 0-1 test for chaos, approximate entropy, and the maximal Lyapunov exponent. The correlation between approximate entropy and the 0-1 test for chaos was observed and described in detail. The main discovery was that the three-stage system of nested sub-intervals of flow rates showed the same pattern in the 0-1 test for chaos and approximate entropy at every level. The investigation leads to the open problem of whether the set of flow rate parameters has Cantor-like structure.Propolis and Bacopa monnieri (L.) Wettst. (Brahmi) are natural products that contain many active substances and possess anticancer properties. The aim of this study was to investigate the chemical composition of Polish propolis extract (PPE) by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), B. monnieri extracts (BcH, BcS) by high performance liquid chromatography with diode array detector and mass spectrometry coupled with electrospray ionization (LC-ESI-MS) and finally determine its anti-proliferative potential combined with BcH and BcS in glioblastoma cell lines (T98G, LN-18, U87MG). The antiproliferative activity of PPE, BcH, BcS and their combination (PPE + BcH) was determined by a cytotoxicity test, and DNA binding was determined by [3H]-thymidine incorporation. Flavonoids and phenylpropenoids were the main components of PPE. selleck chemicals BcH and BcS samples were also successfully analyzed. Their main constituents were saponins such as bacoside A3, bacopaside II, X and bacopasaponin C and its isomer. Here, to shed light on these localisation phenomena, we studied the dc transport and optical conductivity properties of nanoscaled multilayered films composed of disordered metallic Ta and magnetic FeNi nanoisland layers, where ferromagnetic FeNi nanoislands have giant magnetic moments of 10[Formula see text]-10[Formula see text] Bohr magnetons ([Formula see text]). In these multilayered structures, FeNi nanoisland giant magnetic moments are interacting due to the indirect exchange forces acting via the Ta electron subsystem. We discovered that the localisation phenomena in the disordered Ta layer lead to a decrease in the Drude contribution of free charge carriers and the appearance of the low-energy electronic excitations in the 1-2 eV spectral range characteristic of electronic correlations, which may accompany the formation of electronic inhomogeneities. From the consistent results of the dc transport and optical studies we found that with an increase in the FeNi layer thickness across the percolation threshold evolution from the superferromagnetic to ferromagnetic behaviour within the FeNi layer leads to the delocalisation of Ta electrons from the associated localised electronic states. link2 On the contrary, we discovered that when the FeNi layer is discontinuous and represented by randomly distributed superparamagnetic FeNi nanoislands, the Ta layer normalized dc conductivity falls down below the MIR limit by about 60%. The discovered effect leading to the dc conductivity fall below the MIR limit can be associated with non-ergodicity and purely quantum (many-body) localisation phenomena, which need to be challenged further.It remains unclear how programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression interacts with anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) mutation, its variants, and the outcome of treatment. One hundred and twenty four out of 1255 patients (9.9%) were deemed ALK-positive by the Ventana IHC assay. PD-L1 status and ALK variants were available in 100 and 59 patients, respectively. PD-L1 positive (TPS ≥ 1%) and strong positive (TPS ≥ 50%) rate was 50% and 16%, respectively. A total of 64 variant types were detected in 59 patients. V1 (32.8%) and V3a/b (28.1%) were the most common variants. There was no significant association between ALK variants and the PD-L1 expression. The presence of V3a/b subtype independently predicted a worse overall survival in patients receiving ALK inhibitor(s) (aHR 5.10 [95% CI 1.22-21.25], P = 0.025) and platinum plus pemetrexed (aHR 9.62 [95% CI 1.90-48.80], P = 0.006). This corresponded to enrichment of glutamate receptor and glutamine pathways in ATM deficient background compared to WT-ATM DLBCL cells. While previous studies of GB premelting are all limited to equilibrium conditions, we use a multi-phase field model to analyze premelting dynamics by simulating the steady-state growth of a liquid layer along a dry GB in an insulated channel and the evolution of a pre-melted polycrystalline microstructure. In both cases, our results reveal the crucial influence of the disjoining potential. A dry GB transforms into a pre-melted state for a grain-size-dependent temperature interval around [Formula see text], such that a critical overheating of the dry GBs over [Formula see text] should be exceeded for the classical melting process to take place, the liquid layer to achieve a macroscopic width, and the disjoining potential to vanish. Our simulations suggest a steady-state velocity for this transformation proportional to [Formula see text]. Concerning the poly-crystalline evolution, we find unusual grain morphologies and dynamics, deriving from the existence of a pre-melted polycrystalline equilibrium that we evidence. We are then able to identify the regime in which, due to the separation of the involved length scales, the dynamics corresponds to the same curvature-driven dynamics as for dry GBs, but with enhanced mobility.The byproducts of rice bran oil processes are a good source of fat-soluble nutraceuticals, including γ-oryzanol, phytosterol, and policosanols. This study aimed to investigate the effects of green technology with low pressure as the subcritical fluid extraction with dimethyl ether (SUBFDME) on the amount of γ-oryzanol, phytosterol, and policosanol extracted from the byproducts and to increase the purity of policosanols. The SUBFDME extraction apparatus was operated under pressures below 1 MPa. Compared to the chemical extraction method, SUBFDME gave the highest content of γ-oryzanol at 924.51 mg/100 g from defatted rice bran, followed by 829.88 mg/100 g from the filter cake, while the highest phytosterol content was 367.54 mg/100 g. Transesterification gave the highest extraction yield of 43.71% with the highest policosanol content (30,787 mg/100 g), and the SUBFDME method increased the policosanol level from transesterified rice bran wax to 84,913.14 mg/100 g. The results indicate that the SUBFDME method is a promising tool to extract γ-oryzanol and phytosterol and a simple and effective technique to increase the purity of policosanol.
