Scores remained significantly above preoperative ones in the physical health dimensions (PHQ increased 23.9%, p<0.001) and the dimensions of Vitality and Emotional Role decreased significantly. Women showed significantly worse levels of HRQoL than men; no other determinant factors of postoperative HRQoL were found.
HRQoL during the two-year follow-up after myocardial revascularization improved significantly but without reaching the levels of the general Spanish population. The female sex showed significantly lower levels of postoperative health.

Western countries share an interest in evaluating quality of care in the healthcare field. In spite of this, there is a lack of intercultural comparison of the perceptions of professionals. One reason for this may be the lack of standardized instruments. The objective of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties and dimensions of the Spanish version of the Quality in Psychiatric Care-Inpatients Staff (QPC-IPS) instrument.
After translation and revision of the instrument by a panel of experts, a questionnaire was obtained in Spanish that was administered to a pilot sample. A total of 163 professionals participated in the study.
After conducting pilot testing and a cognitive interview with 30 professionals, it was determined that the QPC-IPS was adequate and could be self-administered. Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed six factors that explained 60.9% of the variation. In terms of internal consistency, a Cronbach's alpha of 0.92 was obtained for the full instrument. For test re-test reliability, the intraclass correlation coefficient for the overall questionnaire was 0.91. Convergent validity was analyzed using the NTP394 satisfaction instrument, yielding a positive correlation (0.58).
The results demonstrated that the psychometric properties in terms of internal consistency, temporal stability (test-retest), content validity, and construct validity (confirmatory factor analysis) were adequate. These results confirm that the structure of the Spanish version is similar to the original Swedish version of the QPC-IP.

Absence of fetal breathing movements (FBM) has been found to be a good predictor of preterm delivery in symptomatic patients. However, analysis of FBM patterns and Doppler measurement of them for preterm birth prediction have not been performed before. In this study, we aimed to investigate and analyze FBM patterns in symptomatic preterm labor patients by fetal ultrasonography and nasal Doppler.
This was a multicenter, prospective cohort study. Singleton pregnant patients between 24 and 37 gestational weeks diagnosed with preterm labor were included in the study. Patients were evaluated in three groups no FBM (Group 1), regular FBM (Group 2), irregular FBM (Group3).
Seventy-three patients were available for the final analysis after exclusion. Preterm delivery rate in 24h in groups were 91.7, 32.7 and 100%, respectively. The absence of FBM (Group 1) was statistically significant for preterm delivery in for both 24 (91.7 vs. 42.6%, p=0.002) and 48h (91.7 vs. 49.2%, p=0.006) when compared with fetal breathing positive Group 2 and 3. MK-0991 cost In fetal nasal Doppler analyses in Group 2, the inspiration/expiration number rate was significantly lower in the patients who delivered in 24h (0.98±0.2 vs. 1.25±0.57, p=0.015). By using fetal nasal Doppler, combination of absence of FBM or irregular FBM or regular FBM with inspiration number/expiration number (I/E) <1.25 detects 94.6% of patients who will eventually deliver in the first 24h after admission.
Examining FBM patterns and using nasal Doppler may help the clinician to differentiate those who will deliver preterm and may be an invaluable tool for managing preterm labor patients.

Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is a unique clinical complication of SARS-CoV-2 infection observed in pediatric patients. COVID-19 is emerging as a potential trigger for the development of diabetes in children. Here, we report a patient presenting with MIS-C and new onset diabetes, and discuss the implication and clinical management of these concomitant conditions.
An eight-year-old female presented with hyperglycemia, ketosis and metabolic acidosis consistent with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) in the setting of fever, rash, respiratory distress, hemodynamic instability, reduced systolic function with dilation of the left anterior descending artery, and positive SARS-CoV-2 antibodies suggestive of MIS-C.

Makorin ring finger protein 3 (MKRN3) is associated with the initiation of puberty, and loss of function mutation of MKRN3 is the most common genetic cause of central precocious puberty (CPP). A recent study reported that MKRN3 interacts with and suppresses neural pentraxin-1 precursor (NPTX1) activity via polyubiquitination during early puberty in the mouse hypothalamus. This study investigated the correlation between serum NPTX1 and MKRN3 in CPP girls and predicted the potential role of NPTX1 in pubertal progression.
In this case-control study, we examined 34 girls diagnosed with CPP and 34 healthy prepubertal girls. Anthropometric and hormonal parameters were measured and serum levels of NPTX1 and MKRN3 were evaluated with commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kits.
Serum MKRN3 level decreased significantly in CPPpatients compared to controls (344.48±333.77 and 1295.21±780.80pg/mL, respectively, p<0.001). Serum MKRN3 tended to decrease as Tanner breast stage increased. However, no significant difference was observed in serum NPTX1 levels between patients and controls (20.
