The purpose of this study was to characterize outpatient physical therapy (OPT) use following tibial fractures and examine the variability of OPT attendance, time of initiation, number of visits, and length of care by patient, injury, and treatment factors. Trends for maternal smoking rates have varied substantially across industrialized countries. The objective was to describe how the prevalence of maternal smoking evolved in Spain during 1980-2016.
Data came from the Spanish Collaborative Study of Congenital Malformations. Our sample consisted of 40934 mothers of newborns with no congenital defects from hospitals all across Spain. We estimated change points in trend and the mean annual change in smoking prevalence using 'joinpoint' regression. Relevant potential factors (age, country of birth, education, parity, planned pregnancy and alcohol consumption) were examined using multivariate logistic regression.
Maternal smoking prevalence in 1980 and 2016 were 14.3% (95% confidence interval [CI] 11.9-17.0) and 20.4% (95% CI 15.9-25.8). We identified four periods with distinct trends a sharp increase during the 80s, a plateau during the 90s, a decrease starting in 2000 and a slowdown of such decrease from 2009 on. Smoking was significantly higher among young women, Spain-born, with low education, unplanned pregnancy, and alcohol consumption.

The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education has introduced a requirement that 50% of core faculty members in a physical therapist education program should have an academic doctoral degree, which many programs are not currently meeting. Competition between programs for prestige and resources may explain the discrepancy of academic achievement among faculty despite accreditation standards. The purpose of this study was to identify faculty and program characteristics that are predictive of programs having a higher percentage of faculty with academic doctoral degrees.
Yearly accreditation data from 231 programs for a 10-year period were used in a fixed-effects panel analysis.
For a 1 percentage point increase in the number of core faculty members, a program could expect a decline in academic doctoral degrees by 14% with all other variables held constant. For a 1% increase in either reported total cost or expenses per student, a program could expect a 7% decline in academic doctoral degreespist faculty staffing, time spent in research versus teaching, and program finances. The results of this study should be used to inform higher education policy initiatives aimed to lower competitive pressures and the costs of professional education.Studies of human fear learning suggest that a reliable discrimination between safe and threatening stimuli is important for survival and mental health. In the current study, we applied the subsequent memory paradigm in order to identify neurophysiological correlates of successful threat and safety learning. We recorded event-related potentials, while participants incidentally learned associations between multiple neutral faces and an aversive outcome [unconditioned stimulus (US)/conditioned stimulus (CS)+] or no outcome (noUS/CS-). We found that an enhanced late positive potential (LPP) to both CS+ and CS- during learning predicted subsequent memory. A quadratic relationship between LPP and confidence in memory indicates a possible role in both correct and false fear memory. Importantly, the P300 to the omission of the US (following CS-) was enhanced for remembered CS-, while there was a positive correlation between P300 amplitude to both US occurrence and omission and individual memory performance. A following re-exposure phase indicated that memory was indeed related to subjective fear of the CS+/CS-. These results highlight the importance of cognitive resource allocation to both threat and safety for the acquisition of fear and suggest a potential role of the P300 to US omission as an electrophysiological marker of successful safety learning.This study aimed to investigate the brain grey matter volume (GMV) related to problematic mobile phone use (PMPU), and whether these regions of GMV play a potential moderating role in the relationship between PMPU and depressive symptoms. We recruited 266 students who underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanning. PMPU and depressive symptoms were assessed by a self-rating questionnaire for adolescent PMPU and patient health questionnaire-9, respectively. A multiple regression model was performed to detect GMV and white matter (WM) integrity associated with PMPU by voxel-based morphometry (VBM) and tract-based spatial statistics (TBSS) methods, and the moderating analysis was conducted by PROCESS using SPSS software. VBM analysis found an inverse correlation between the GMV of the anterior cingulate gyrus (ACC) and right fusiform gyrus (FFG) with PMPU (PFDR  less then  0.05), and TBSS analysis revealed that fractional anisotropy (FA) in the body of the corpus callosum was negatively correlated with PMPU.
