Albums
The discography of the American rock group Toto includes 13 studio albums, four live albums, and several compilations. Toto has released original music and collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The band has received multiple Grammy Awards.
Before the formation of Toto the group, members worked as sessions for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 in the wake of the collaboration.
Toto's third album, Turn Back, marked a change from the more progressive sound of their earlier efforts and was criticized for its lack of hit singles. In 1985 the group's lead singer Fergie Frederiksen resigned from the group The band held auditions for a new frontman. The band picked guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.
